Continue Your Workout Program While Overcoming Injuries
Written By Jeffrey Spaeth, L.M.T., C.P.T.
As we mature, we’re more susceptible to injuries due to extreme exercise or accidents around the home. With proper guidance and knowledge you can continue to work out and heal at the same time.
If you injured your knees, ankles, feet, shins or calves, I advise performing a low-impact form of cardio like swimming, stationary biking, and rowing. You can continue with resistance-training for the upper body, back, chest, abs and arm exercise.
When injuries occur to the upper body, rotator-cuff, or torn biceps you can still perform high intensity cardio exercises with the lower body like running, step ups, jump rope, elliptical, spinning etc. You can also continue to exercise the lower body doing lunges, squats or the leg press.
Most injuries are caused from lack of conditioning or poor health. As you work through your injuries and get healthier, sore areas should feel better with every workout. No matter what you do, don’t give up! Keep moving forward!
