Men’s Inspiration of the New Look for 2014

Written by Melodie Garcia, Hairdresser at Golden Ocala.

mens-hair-trends-croppedThis 2014 season is all about men’s hair trends. You are about to see new ideas including 1950’s haircuts with a modern twist, as well as preppy hairstyle variations. The Gothic looks of Victorian and Edwardian men, along with Medieval and Renaissance influences are shaping the styles for 2014.

2014 hair tendencies are even bolder and more daring than prior season layouts and are great simply because you may have an opportunity to find the one that will show off your character. Trendsetters and hair gurus such as Adam Levine, Johnny Depp, Channing Tatum, and Brad Pitt made so many fantastic designs and sported amazing haircuts. Let’s take a look at what the stars of music and television are sporting on their heads.

Adam Levine

Adam Levine, one of my favorites for his music, is always re-inventing himself and he recently got an edgy new do. He bleached his locks platinum blonde, trading in his signature brown hair for a much lighter hue. Adam’s new look has gotten a lot of feedback from his Twitter fans, as well as from fellow costars on The Voice. Check out his new hairstyle featured in US Weekly. Is it true that blondes really have all the fun?

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp revealed a shocking blonde hairdo at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. Check out his new hue featured in People. It’s a textured, beachy, messy look that fits his constantly changing style. Depp is known for his outrageous looks and this one has many of his fans buzzing.

Channing Tatum

In 2013, Tatum was ahead of the rest of these men when he went blonde, along with sporting his eye catching facial hair for his film Jupiter Ascending. See it for yourself in People Magazine. Channing Tatum has a big female fan base due to his dreamy looks. And much to their delight, he returned back to his short brown hair shortly after wrapping up the film. Currently, he sports his natural hue, as seen at his movie premiere for 22 Jumpstreet.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt may be 50, but that didn’t stop him from sporting a youthful, edgy hairstyle at the Sag Awards (see it in People). The actor’s hair was shaved on both sides and slicked back at the top. His cut was for his untitled film by David Ayer.

As you’ve seen, men’s hairstyles are not like women’s. They are short lived, normally lasting less than a year. On the other hand, men’s hairstyle trends evolve slowly, which is the key to any of the contemporary hair trends.
