Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club didn’t always blanket 1,300 acres of rolling Central Florida terrain with residential splendor, recreational delight and luxury living. For years the expanse of land was merely one rustic spread west of Ocala, the horse capitol of the world.

But it took a dream to make this vision rise to life, a dream nourished in the heart of one family, the Roberts.

Five decades ago, Ralph L. “Larry” Roberts I., a teenager, dreamt of starting his own business. He bought a truck which he used to haul furniture.

Over the years, Mr. Roberts, who is known as “Senior,” built the internationally acclaimed logistics company known as R+L Carriers, which now has nearly 13,000 tractors and trailers. Wilmington, Ohio-based R+L Carriers operates in all 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and many Caribbean Islands.

The family had a vision of creating a golf and equestrian wonderland – and that vision became reality. Visitors to Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club will see for themselves the artistry of fountains, statuary and gardens and the creative intricacies that were invested into this Floridian paradise.

The Roberts’ desire was to share this dream and began work on the 1,300 acres to build a golf and equestrian community that reflected the grandeur of their own estate where families are able to enjoy horseback riding, championship golf, luxury homes and superior amenities.
