West Coast Style IPA Now Available for Our Members!

Written by Harold Dean, our Food and Beverage Director.

Are you ready, beer lovers? The FIRST EVER West Coast style IPA from Sam Adams is now available on draft in Knickers!

What is a West Coast IPA?

Rebel IPA PhotoContrary to the name, “West Coast IPA” is not exclusively a geographical distinction, although many believe that’s how this style of beer got its name. There are plenty of breweries not located on the West Coast that make beers in the West Coast IPA style. The key characteristic about West Coast style IPA is that there is no strong malt flavor competing with the hops.

This rare Rebel IPA is brewed with 5 different varieties of West Coast Hops: Cascade, Simcoe, Centennial, Chinook, and Amarillo. It will hit your tongue with flavors of tangy citrus, grapefruit and subtle pine notes. As you swallow, you will savor finishes of a mild and sweet malty base.

There’s Something Special About Sam Adams

All Samuel Adams® craft beer starts with the ingredients. The brewery works side-by-side with growers to track the progress of the hops and determine the exact right time to harvest. Each year, the hops are hand selected and shipped to the Atlantic when the weather is at its coolest, perfect for maintaining the freshest crop.
