The month of March is well underway which means its prime golf season at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. Now that milder temperatures are again the normal and daylight lasting well into the evening hours, it’s perfect weather for golfing.

Keeping the course in peak condition for the prime golf season.

Our goal in the golf course maintenance department is to present the golf course in top condition over the next couple of months. Once summer arrives it takes a lot of hard work to keep the course in peak form.

As temperatures begin to spike into the high 80s, the golf course maintenance department worked to top dress the greens and broom the sand into the canopy without disrupting visuals or play ability. Over 3-tons of dried green sand was distributed over the 4.25 acres of greens in recent weeks. This will help keep the greens smooth, firm and fast for play.

The course will feature several golf tournaments in coming weeks including this weekend’s Men’s 2015 Club Championship on March 21-22. The course will host the Golf Course Superintendents Association on March 24 followed by the Men’s Member/Guest Golf Tournament April 16-18.

In addition to the upcoming tournaments, the Golden Ocala golf course receives a lot of player traffic on a daily basis and will likely handle more as volunteers from the LPGA Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers begin to redeem their tee times.
