How to get Clear Skin this Summer!
Written by Brooke Berns, Licensed Esthetician.
Is your skin normally blemish free but it seems like your face keeps breaking out? Well, you might be able to blame it on the humidity and heat from the summer season. Your body produces sweat in order to cool you down so it’s a common thing for your skin to get inflamed and your pores to get clogged during the summer heat and humidity.
Here are some helpful tips on how to get clear skin this summer.
Drink lots of water.
If you’re not drinking enough water you will see negative side effects in your skin. Your skin will get dry, flakey, inflamed and erected. Just because you are producing sweat doesn’t mean your body hydrated enough. Water cleanses your body and your skin. The more you sweat the more water you will need. See our blog “Hydration-Are You Drinking Enough Water” for tips on how to keep yourself hydrated.
Start your day with a fresh face.
Cleansing your skin helps wash away bacteria, using toner brings skin ph back to normal, using serums protects the skin from the inside out and applying sun block protects the skin from the harsh UV Rays. Sun block is very important. A good sun block and a clean face should not clog your pores. Don’t forget to do this regimen in the morning and evening. In the evening replace the sun block with moisturizer.
If you’re going to be outside in the heat have a clean hand towel around to wipe your face. Don’t touch your face with your hands. Touching your face can add and spread bacteria. The towel will clean it and cool it down.
Mist your face with a facial spritz. This will help cool your face and stops it from sweating.
Wear a wide brimmed hat. It will help keep the sun off your face so your skin isn’t as exposed to the UV rays and you won’t get as hot. Make sure the hat is cleaned regularly.
It’s okay to enjoy the sun this summer but remember to protect your skin. If you forget your sun block and you are at the pool, ask the front desk at the spa and they will gladly provide you with some.
