Golden Ocala Congratulates Sarah Perkins for Winter Park Win
Belleview High School senior Sarah Perkins continues to rise on the youth tennis scene with recent wins at the Winter Park Championship and the Gainesville Junior Championship in the past month.
Perkins trains daily at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club’s Tennis Center with Director of Tennis Thiroshan Chetty and participates in hitting lessons with former collegiate player Krista Ingilli.
Chetty praised Perkin’s recent achievements and her progress, saying Perkins has been putting more practice hours on the courts at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and has demonstrated remarkable improvement in her footwork and levels of fitness.
Perkin’s Mental Game Continues to Improve
Chetty said Perkins is also gaining greater mental confidence and acumen necessary to succeed at the sport and presents a positive attitude, a tireless work ethic and a sharp tenacity to excel. Chetty added that the Belleview girl serves as a strong role model for other children at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club’s Tennis Center.
Chetty said he is delighted to help Perkins train and improve her game and wishes her continued success in the next few months in competitions.
Perkins was the Star-Banner’s girls tennis player of the year in 2014. She also went undefeated in Marion County for the year.
Earlier this year, Perkins won in two categories at the 2015 Florida Credit Union Championship. She was champion in both singles and doubles categories in the Gainesville tournament that included 40 other north Central Florida players.
