Golden Ocala Athletes Make History

Teammate Natalie with Allie Sutton, teammate Lexi, Vicky Ortiz and teammate Savannah

Golden Ocala’s junior tennis athletes are doing us proud, as 12 of them have just been named All-County, and one of them has even been honored as the Ocala Star-Banner’s 2019 Girls Tennis Player of the Year! As they prepare for college-level tennis or to continue their training with our team of professionals, we want to officially pay tribute to their success and recognize Golden Ocala’s role in the athletes’ love of the game.

From Golden Ocala to Florida Gator

Emily Kintzele and Alex Kintzele

The 2019 Girls Tennis Player of the Year is none other than Emily Kintzele — whom our local newspaper credited with a long-lasting legacy at Vanguard High School. She finished the season 7-2 in singles and doubles and captured the MCIAC championship in both. What’s even more impressive – Emily maintained a 5.0 GPA, granting her the prestigious title of valedictorian of her high school class.

She will continue her incredible ride at University of Florida next month where she will study zoology and play club tennis. Of course, we anxiously await her visits back to her hometown of Ocala. Congratulations and best of luck, Emily!

Girls’ Names to Remember

Nicole Jones

Following ever so closely behind Emily were Allie Sutton — a junior at Trinity Catholic — and Nicole Jones – a junior at Belleview — respectively. Trained by our tennis professionals, Allie’s only loss this season was to Emily, while Nicole’s only losses were to Emily and Allie. But every day, they’re winners in our book!

The Ocala Star-Banner also sang praises to two more of our female tennis athletes as Honorable Mentions —Vicky Ortiz of Trinity Catholic and Sora Kang of Vanguard. Way to go, girls!

Boys’ Names to Remember

Arthur Beglaryian, Stephen Garlisi and teammate Liam

Just as we celebrate our girls, Golden Ocala remembers All-County Boys who got their start on our tennis courts. Arthur Beglaryian — a senior at Trinity Catholic — came in second, as he was undefeated in county play and 12-3 overall. Right behind him was Lewis Leonard – a sophomore at Forest — whose only loss was to the Ocala Star-Banner’s 2019 Boys Tennis Player of the Year. After Lewis came Seth Robinette — a freshman at Vanguard — who finished 4-3 in singles and 7-1 in doubles during the regular season. His only county loss was to Arthur.

The Ocala Star-Banner’s honorable mentions included four Golden-Ocala-trained boys — Francisco Davila of Belleview, Stephen Garlisi of Trinity Catholic, and Aadil Qamar and Alex Kintzele of Vanguard.

Bravo, gentlemen!

These tennis players were selected by John Patton and Josh Kimble of the Ocala Star-Banner, as well as area coaches. The above athletes were trained at Golden Ocala by Director of Tennis T Chetty and his renowned staff — Corey Forrest and Nick Sudol.
