A Golden Success in Tennis!

Going to the State Championship!
This Friday through Sunday (October 11-13), our tennis teams will be competing in the 2013 Adult Sectional Mixed Doubles Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. What an accomplishment for Golden Ocala Tennis to be competing among the best 7.0 and 9.0 mixed teams in the state of Florida! It is extremely rare that a private club competes at the highest level of competition in adult tennis.
Our 7.0 and 9.0 teams have beat all of the teams locally and now they will compete against the rest of the state and players from different clubs. Between 30-40 teams are expected to be at this state mixed doubles championship. Golden Ocala is one of the only country clubs that will be competing, the rest are all public facilities.
If you’re not familiar with tennis, rankings are assigned by the United States Tennis Association. 7.0 is the highest ranking an individual player can earn. This is the same level that the professional players you watch on television achieve. 9.0 is the highest ranking that a doubles team can earn, based on a combination of the scores of both individuals on a similar scale. What’s Next for Our Teams?
If our teams win this weekend, they will go on to the national championships! The national championships for our 7.0 team are in Hawaii and for our 9.0 team, they will be in Tucson, Arizona.
