Completion of Pool Repairs
Road to Pool Repairs
The pool at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club has just reopened following months-long repairs — including the renewal of the pool and pool deck themselves, as well as the addition of new furnishings and landscaping — to accommodate a growing membership. As many people found out during a grand reopening event on March 3rd, the pool is still made for swimming, sunbathing, and complementing the food and beverage service from Café on the Green, but it also offers a brand new set of amenities and features, some of which our members will come to appreciate without understanding the full extent of the face-lift that took place. Here is where we change that.
Fun & Fitness
If you do not already equate fitness with fun, now is the time, as our team is incorporating water aerobics and private and group swim lessons into the member wellness program. Complimentary Splash Fun classes are also offered twice per week for member youth —ages four months to four years — and one accompanying adult per child. All classes are taught by Leslie Lee, Golden Ocala’s newest fitness instructor who hails from Virginia and has 30 years of experience in the water with people at all swim and water fitness levels.
First-Class Furnishings & Lush Landscaping
Bear in mind, the design to the pool did not change, but plenty of other elements received upgrades — the pool surface, tile and ladder, just to name a few. Where there were just chairs to sit in and sun chairs to lay on, there are now six tables and chairs for multipurpose use.
All new landscaping was intended to bring back a youthful look to the pool area, while integrating subtle changes via a more updated palette. Old shrubs and perennial plants were replaced with an updated variety of understory plantings, such as container plants and vines, to bring in color, texture and year-round appeal. Bob Hollis, Director of Horticulture, and his crew installed mixed baskets of spring-colored flowers that will be changed several times throughout the year, as well as macho ferns for containers that sit in the deep shade and two trellises of pink mandevilla for the outdoor café area. Others include:
- Gold Mound Duranta that produces yellow foliage
- Green Podocarpus that produces red berries at maturity
- Evergreen Japanese Boxwoods
- Evergreen Liriope that produces blue flowers in the summer
- Creamy Variegated Aztec Grass
- Blue Daze that produces blue flowers throughout the season
Every Day and Holiday Pool Use
As usual, the pool is open every day from dusk to dawn, weather permitting. Just remember to take cover at the sound of
thunder, especially as the summer months and hurricane season come around. And for the consideration of others, please
do not forget swim diapers for your littles ones.
Member-exclusive pool party events are also scheduled for Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. However, members and member guests still have time to reserve the pool area for private functions if they so choose.
We hope you enjoy the new products and clean, fresh look that Golden Ocala has created to maintain the community’s premier reputation and meet the needs of families, corporations and individuals from across the country and around the world.
