Recap of 5th Annual Furball
On February 8th, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club hosted an evening of glitz, glam and giving known as the Fifth Annual Furball — or the “Pawscars” of Marion County.
A Look Back
With dinner, gaming, musical entertainment, live art, a silent auction and educational opportunities, this homeless-pet-inspired fundraiser brought $135,000 to Voices of Change Animal League (VOCAL) — a 501(c)(3) organization committed to ending pet homelessness in Marion County. This significantly broke last year’s record of $110,000 and exceeded VOCAL’s donation expectations by a landslide.
Additionally, VOCAL was more than pleased to welcome Dr. Maggie Bell and Mr. Darcy Bird — the mission’s very first donors — back as presenting sponsors for the third consecutive year.
What’s Next?
Now, donations from VOCAL’s Furball will fund low-cost spay/neuter and pet rescue throughout the region. This limits the pet overpopulation, offers spay and neuter services at a financially feasible price, and reminds the local public about the importance of these services.
And, if you missed this year’s event, there is no need to wait until next year to contribute. Simply visit VocalForPets.org and follow donation prompts.
Feature Presentation and Photos
VOCAL also has plenty of visual event recaps on its Facebook page — @VOCALforPets. You’ll find captioned photos that highlight the Furball as well as separately posted photos and videos from the VOCAL Youth Council.
Attendees can even share their own event photos in the comments section.
The best part? There’s a feature presentation video that was first shown during the Furball itself. It showcases VOCAL’s programs and community outreach as well as generates a call to action to join in the cause. Please note, VOCAL does not own the rights to the music incorporated into the video. All credit goes to original artists.
If, in fact, this feature presentation inspires you, you can further donate to VOCAL services via Facebook or a secure PayPal link.
Thank you for your generosity year after year! For further information on VOCAL and Golden Ocala’s passion for helping this organization, please visit VocalForPets.org.
