Ocala Magazine Holds ‘Best of the Best 2015’ Contest
Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club is in the running in several categories in Ocala Magazine’s Best of 2015 contest.
The survey asks viewers to vote for their top choices in numerous categories focusing on Food & Beverage, Entertainment, Arts & Culture, Business, Community, and Family. In business for more than 30 years, Ocala Magazine focuses on “gracious Central Florida living.”
Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club has competitors in the Best Golf Course (Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian), Best Local Chef (Rick Alabaugh) and Best Extra Curricular Activity (Golden Ocala Tennis).
Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club’s 18-hole championship course was designed by Ron Garl and incorporates eight masterfully recreated tribute holes from some of the world’s finest courses including Augusta, Royal Troon, Baltusrol, Muirfield and St. Andrews.
Alabaugh has been the Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club for more than ten years. He said he’s been “in the kitchen” since he was 18. “It becomes part of your life,” he said. “It’s like an addiction.”
Alabaugh said he’s a different kind of chef, focused more on what customers want than his own sense of personal artistry and creative inclinations. “I give our members what they want,” he said. He writes all the menus for Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club’s restaurants.
For more information, call Alabaugh at 352-402-4347.
