Discover The Best Time and The Best Place for Spring Vacation

Everywhere in the world springtime marks an awakening of sorts – it’s nature’s annual unfolding, an ostentatious evolution of broad artistry. It’s the season of color: Green comes out to play; red begins to dance recklessly; blue parades audaciously. But not in Florida. It’s different.

So, what’s so amazing about springtime in the Sunshine State? And what’s so great about spring vacation in Florida? We at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club are so very glad you asked.

First (and probably last), spring in the Sunshine State is just plain better than anywhere else in the world. The greens are greener, the reds are hardier and the blues are more brilliant. And the weather outside is never frightful.

In fact, spring started here March 20 and ends unceremoniously June 19. But within those two dates abide some sweet weather. Let’s venture outdoors and discuss. Today’s weather forecast: 83 high, 69 low. Next Wednesday: 82 high, 63 low. The following Wednesday: 78 and 61. The forecast for the last day of spring: 91 and 74.

Explorer Ponce de Leon named the state Pascua Florida in 1513. It means Flowery Easter for Spain’s “Feast of the Flowers.”

We told you why Florida is the best place to live in an earlier article. Here are some highlights: Florida has 1,350 miles of coastlines, the second longest in the nation, behind Alaska’s 6,640 miles. (We won’t delve into the “pleasantries” of an afternoon at the beach at the Arctic Ocean, we’ll let your chilly imagination run wild for cover.)

Back to the weather: Florida’s overall average daily temperature is 70.7 degrees. But it’s 70 in the spring.

Florida Possesses Rich Variety of Geological Wonders

The nation’s southernmost state, Florida consists of islands, marshes, springs, swamps and many hundreds of lakes, rivers and ponds, according to the World Atlas.

Ideal LIVING Magazine describes Central Florida “a mix of semi-tropical vegetation and typical southern varieties of plants.” Oleander, palmetto and pine trees decorate the gentle rolling landscape with full-color splashes of red camellias, pink and white impatiens, yellow and white Jasmine and purple wisteria.
