LPGA Pro Am Coming to Golden Ocala in February

Ladies and Gentleman: If golf is your game, the LPGA Pro Am is the place to be.

The 2016 Ladies Professional Golf Association Pro Am is scheduled for early February 2016 at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. The event, in its second year at Golden Ocala, gives amateur golfers the opportunity to play with the top professional players in the world – thus the name Pro-Am, professional-amateur.

Golden Ocala will host the Coates Golf Championship, featuring some of the LPGA’s best players. The event is set for Feb. 1-6. R+L Carriers is the event’s presenting sponsor.

The Pro-Am provides golfers with the opportunity to experience the professional side of the sport – up-close and personal, according to Coates Golf Championship.

Join Golden Ocala for the LPGA Pro Am

Pro-Am spots include matching your foursome with two LPGA tour professionals (one on the first nine holes of the game, another professional on the second nine), an invitation to the opening gala, one Pro-Am gift bag, one team photo, one Pro-Am contestant badge (valid for the week), one Pro-Am guest badge (for the week), and two additional weekly grounds passes.

The total investment is $8,000. More than 80,000 people attended last year’s event, organizers said.

Founded in 1950, the LPGA expanded from a tour group into an international nonprofit organization helping sports-related groups and efforts. The association’s headquarters is in Daytona Beach, Florida.

About 120 LPGA players participated in last year’s tournament, which gave away more than $1.5 million in prizes. This year’s tournament at Golden Ocala will be covered by the Golf Channel.

Na Yeon Choi achieved her ninth-career LPGA victory last year and Lydia Ko, then 17, rose to No. 1 on the Rolex Rankings.
