Dads love the attention on Father’s Day…in their own way

Most dads shy away from too much attention on themselves, especially on days like Father’s Day intended to celebrate them. Few can explain it, and pass it off as “just a guy thing.”

Well, the nation has been officially celebrating Father’s Day since 1972 although the first proclamation dates back to 1910. Dads are typically not big on all things sentimental in comparison to moms for Mother’s Day.

But don’t let the guys fool you, they rack up on Father’s Day in a number of ways. It’s expected that we’ll spend $12.7 billion on dads this year on a combination of things like golf lessons, home improvement tools or other gadgets, coffee mugs and the list goes on according to the 2015 Father’s Day Spending Survey by the National Retail Federation.

Those golf lessons may come in handy for dad after playing in the Father/Child Golf Tournament here at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. He’ll want to up his game and feed into that competitive nature with his fellow dads. Kids, of all ages, watch out if you are dad’s partner on the course because he wants to win!

There’s still time to sign up for the golf tournament scheduled for Saturday, June 20th with a 1 p.m. tee-off. The fee is $20 per team. Call the Golf Pro Shop at 352-671-3933 for more details.

And of course we all want our member dads to look their best every day and especially on Father’s Day. The staff at the Golden Ocala Spa is ready to make sure dads have a fresh haircut and scalp massage along with a deep tissue massage. The Father’s Day Package is $99 and can be booked by calling the spa at 352-402-4350.
