The inaugural Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers was this past week, January 26-31, 2015. This was the first time an LPGA tournament was hosted at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and it was a huge success. The victor of the 2015 LPGA opener was Na Yeon Choi of South Korea with a total score of -16. There was also history made here at Golden Ocala when Lydia Ko became the youngest golfer in the world, men’s and women’s, ranked at number one. The record she broke was previously held by Tiger Woods. None of the tremendous success from the Coates Golf Championship would have been possible if it weren’t for the wonderful volunteer staff. Coates Volunteer Statistics

There were a total of 848 volunteers participating in a number of different efforts throughout tournament week which began on Monday, January 26th. Each volunteer averaged no less than 20 hours of volunteer work per week, equating to a minimum of 17,000 hours of volunteer work during the entire week. Golden Ocala greatly appreciates and thanks all the volunteers for their hard work and efforts through the week! We could not have been this successful without you!

“It’s been really good crowds. Even yesterday we were playing in the afternoon, there were a lot of people out here. Just I guess following from tee to green not only our group but the groups behind and in front also. I think it’s been great and the fans here are really excited.
