Remembering Thanksgiving

In years past, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club has discussed the traditional and modern-day versions of Thanksgiving, as well as the true meaning of the family- and food-filled holiday. And if you look at outside sources’ take on this annual event tucked between Halloween and Christmas, you will find more than enough articles on why people often disregard this day by over-wearing ghost and goblin costumes and pouring eggnog while leaves continue to fall. But for us, this year’s message is simple — do not forget Thanksgiving just because bells, whistles and 100 commercials every five seconds aren’t associated with it. Find reasons to be grateful that it’s only 24 hours, so as not to be overplayed like many Christmas carols, and do not confuse this precious time by labeling it Black Friday eve, so as to commercialize it. But if you forget to remember that, at least be sure to reserve seats at Golden Ocala’s member-exclusive Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet!

Thanksgiving Dinner: Horse-Country Style

Buffet means all you can eat — and nothing screams Thanksgiving in Horse Country louder than that. On Thursday, November 22^nd, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., five stations will be available for your dining pleasure. The tour begins with seasonal soups, followed by beds of assorted lettuce with an array of toppings. The ride continues with the carving station starring world-famous tom turkey and other delectable meats like prime rib and honey-glazed ham.
If you’re taking a healthier route this year, Golden Ocala is here to accommodate you with grilled grouper. But rest assured, there will still be diet-ditching hearty sides available, should temptation overcome you. Options include corn bread, buttermilk mash potatoes, baked macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, and more — so pace yourselves!

The tour comes to a halt when you hang a left at the dessert trays. It’s there that members will find oodles and oodles of holiday classics to keep them wishing Thanksgiving was a 24-seven, 365 thing.
