Golden Ocala Holds Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch

Before we at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club tell you all about having exorbitant fun and possibly high adventure at our March 27 Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch, we must define our terms.

We’ll tell you later that the hunt starts at 10 a.m. and that you’ll need to bring your own basket. We’ll also tell about the opportunity of meeting the Easter Bunny at 10:30 a.m. and about face painting from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

We’ll also let you in on the special brunch that is 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. We’ll tell you that the fee for children 12 and under is $25 and for adults it’s $55. We’ll mention somewhere along the line that reservations are required and that you have to call 629-6229 to make those reservations.

Yes, we’re certainly going to tell you all that really soon, but for the time being, you’re just going to have wait as we take you through a brief tour through the world of semantics.

We know. We know. Who wants to hear about boring old semantics? But wait. This stuff is really, really exciting. And you’ll have to read through this before we tell you all about the … March 27 Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch. Oops.

Going on a Hunt To Discover the Meaning of Easter Egg Hunt

First stop: Easter. Historians believe the word has its roots in ancient Northern Europe and referred to the mythic figure Eastre, which represented in the Saxon religion springtime. In Christianity, Easter is the occasion to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Next stop: Eggs. Birds, reptiles, mammals and fish lay eggs. Humans have been gobbling these things up for zillions of years – fried, poached, scrambled, boiled and made into gooey Denver omelets with hot sauce.

Stop three: Hunt. The first definition means to chase for food and pleasure. But since eggs don’t flee, we’ll go to the second part of the definition: To search for something or someone very carefully and thoroughly.
