Food, Fireworks and Festivities at Golden Ocala 

If you are going to be in or near Horse Country this Independence Day, do not forget to add Golden Ocala to your list of fireworks/food destinations and party-like pastimes. Starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4^th, in the Clubhouse, members can savor an array of divine beverages, followed by a traditional barbecue buffet and face painting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with fireworks to begin shortly after sunset. As a reminder, Raspberry’s is closed that day, and service at Knickers and Café on the Green ends at 4 p.m.

Summer Fit for a Smorgasbord

There is no need to fire up your grill and set up picnic tables when Golden Ocala has thought of pretty much everything. When it comes to a July 4^th smorgasbord, ours may even be too much for Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest winner, Joey Chestnut, to handle.

We will start with chicken raifort, pasta salad, potato salad, mixed green salad with a choice of ranch dressing or balsamic vinaigrette, and of course, coleslaw. Entrees will include poolside favorites like char-grilled prime chuck hamburgers, Hebrew National hotdogs, barbecue chicken, smoked barbecue spare ribs and Johnsonville beer brats. Just think Brooklyn’s Coney Island meets Missouri’s barbecue capital of the world. Side dishes include timeless classics, such as corn on the cob with herb butter, baked beans and a baked potato station topped with sour scream, whipped butter, bacon bits and scallions.

For a rapid cooldown, make a beeline for the sundae bar where you will find chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream, as well as an assortment of indulgent toppings. If that’s not your idea of tasty, sample the toothsome strawberry shortcake or watermelon and wash each one down with delectable lemonade, coffee or iced tea.

Pertinent Details

All that stands between you and cups filled to the brim/plates coated with hearty meals is $35 for adults and $15 for children ages 6-12. Champagne, beer, wine, tea, soda and water will be available for members to purchase during the fireworks display. Member parking for the fireworks will be at the end of the Foxhounds neighborhood in Golden Ocala. And don’t worry about carrying chairs from your car to the site — there are plenty to go around!
