Ancient Celtics in Costumes
Historians believe the ancient Celtics were the first people to wear Halloween costumes. The Celtics celebrated Samhaim, the holiday to commemorate “summer’s end.”
The day signified the close of the harvest and the beginning of the season of darkness and cold, which represented human death, according to The History Channel.
The Druids believed fairies or spirits of the dead from the previous year were able to roam the earth because the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest on that day.
In fifth-century Ireland, Christians held to many of the holiday’s traditions and called it All Hallows’ Eve.
Come and experience the chilling fun at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club.
