It’s that time of year again! HITS or Horses In The Sun, is a world-class hunter-jumper circuit that puts on horse shows here in Ocala from January 15^th to March 24^th (this year’s dates) at Post Time Farm, which is located on Highway 27 and features a newly renovated jumping stadium. The 2014 Ocala HITS Winter Circuit will run for 10 consecutive weeks with a $1 million grand prix competition on March 24^th. The first three weeks of the circuit are non-rated competitions, followed by seven weeks of competitions requiring increasingly higher skill level.

Talent from All Over the World

During this time of year, HITS takes over the local equestrian scene here in Marion County, letting riders, horses, and breeders show off their talent. HITS also has circuit horse shows in California, Arizona, New York and Virginia. Many of the horses and riders are from different states and travel to show at all or some of these locations throughout the year.

One of the great things about HITS is that it is open to all ages and skill levels from novice riders to highly esteemed talent. Every year, this show draws thousands of people, both competitors and spectators. In addition, several companies have a presence at this show by sponsoring different classes at the events. Even though horses are the main focus at HITS, there are a plethora of other activities for guests and their families to enjoy including shopping at world-class vendors, grooming competitions, parades, dog shows, great food, and more.

If you are able to go and experience this lovely yearly equestrian event just down the road, it is awesome to see and definitely worth going. Many of our members compete with their horses and some of them are stabled at Golden Ocala’s Equestrian Center.
