Golf Tip: Complete Your Golf Swing by Facing the Target

Written By Mike Cooney, Golf Director

A tip that will help golfers improve their game is to complete each swing by facing the target. The pros do it each and every time, this is routine for them.

It is amazing how much more distance you will get by allowing the heel of your right foot to face the sky when you complete your swing. This move maintains the follow through to the target.

The reason why you hit behind the ball is due to swinging flat footed. Watch the PGA tour players and LPGA tour players and see that their right heel (for the right handed golfer) faces the sky when they finish their swing.

Allow your right knee and belly button to follow the ball toward your target. This is a simple swing, thought to help transfer your weight from your right foot to your left foot.

The next time you hit the green here at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club or another great course, try this tip when completing each swing. The more you practice the easier it will become to incorporate this into your game. Check out other tips in our golf blog and also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
